Ananta Padmanabha Chaturdashi means Ananta Chaturdashi Vrat or Ananta Padmanabha Vrat which is celebrated on Bhadrapada Shukla Chaturdashi. Vrata scriptures state that this is the most important of the Kamya Vratas in the Hindu tradition. From generation to generation this vrata has been considered as the best way to get out of trouble.

It is remarkable that the mention of this Vrata is found in Bharatavani from a long time ago. During the exile of the Pandavas, Dharmaraja, who was suffering hardships, asked Lord Krishna to tell him if there was any vrata to save him from them. In this vrata, Anantha, who is carrying the weight of the earth, is seen worshiping Lord Vishnu, who is worshiping the Adishesha as a bed. Anantapadmanabha avatar flutters in front of the eyes if one observes the ritualistic puja. A seven-legged snake is painted with flour for ritual. It is seen that a snake is worshiped with darbhas. A snake made of darbhas is placed on a covered kalash and worshipped. In this whole, the concept of Seshashayana's form is seen. Holy water is kept in the kalash prepared for keeping in vrata. A little milk, a stick of wood and a silver coin are put in that water. River Yamuna is invoked into the water in the kalash. Anantapadmanabhaswamy seems to give priority to the number fourteen in the puja. In order to have the feeling that Swami is worshiping the fourteen worlds on that day, it is seen that seven half of the fourteen number of padgalas are placed on the Sarpakriti worshiped on that day, and twenty-eight number of wheat flour which is twice the number of fourteen are made with wheat flour and the ediya of the fourteen year Kokasari Vrata is done. The main part of this vrata is the red tora which is worn on the hand and has 14 knots. And some people use 14 kinds of fruits for offering, pastries and patri for puja. All this is for the purpose of thinking of that Divine Mangal Swarup who is the Kalaswarup who rules the seven and fourteen worlds.

Vrata scriptures state that it is better to perform puja with the help of a priest in this vrata. On this day, the couple fasting from morning till evening.

If we look at the story regarding Vrata, it seems that everything is based on truth and dharma. A warning appears that those who follow Satyadharma will be worthy of God's grace, and those who ignore them will have to suffer hardships throughout the births. A story is told on the occasion of this vrata, where a cow told the tiger that was about to eat her to wait for a while, and kept her promise to go home and nurse her calf. That day the cow thought that truth was more important than her life. She fed her calf full of milk and taught the Dharma. Such a darsha way of life is contemplated during this vrata.
