Krishna Janmashtami is an important festival celebrated in India. Krishna's birthday is celebrated with grandeur as Krishna Janmashtami or Gokulashtami. Lord Krishna's birthday is celebrated on Shravan Krishna Ashtami in the Lunar month and on Rohini Nakshatra day in Simha month in Solar month.

Ashtami of Krishna Paksha which falls in the month of Shravan is the birthday of Krishna. The midnight of Ashtami is mentioned in Puranas as the birthplace of Krishna in prison. Mathura is the birthplace of Krishna. When Krishna was born, his father Vasudeva took him to Gokula without the knowledge of his brother-in-law Kamsa. There he leaves Krishna at Nandaraja's house. Nature helps in this task. Devaki is the mother who gave birth to Krishna, while Yashoda is the mother who nurtured him.

On the day of Krishna Janmashtami, houses and temples are decorated beautifully. Krishna's small steps are celebrated by writing them in rangoli. Krishna idols are decorated in various ways, various snacks are prepared and Bala Krishna is worshipped. In some places, there is a tradition of fasting until midnight and then receiving food. Special pujas are performed on this day in Udupi.

Krishna was born as the 8th son of Devaki and Vasudeva in a prison in Mathura town on Bhadrapada Krishna Ashtami. Mathura (now Mathura district of Uttar Pradesh) was the capital of the Yadava clan.

Kansa's father kept Ugrasena captive and became king himself. Later he marries his beloved sister Devaki. When Annakamsa was taking Devaki-Vasudeva to her husband's house after their marriage, he heard a ghostly voice, [3] according to which Devaki's eighth child would also kill Kamsa.

Hearing this, Kamsa immediately set out to kill Devaki. Then Vasudeva stopped him and said that every child should be offered in Kamsa's lap as soon as it is born. He arrested them and killed the 7 children born to them. He took the 8th child Krishna to Gokula without his knowledge and crossed the Yamuna.

Yashoda's daughter, who was born there, was brought here. But when Kamsa came to kill her, she disappeared saying that she wanted to know about his death instead of taking the form of Vishnu's helper Yogamaya. Krishna grew up with Balarama in Gokula and Vrindavan, and finally came to Mathura and killed Kamsa.

ಓಂ ಅಸ್ಯ ಶ್ರೀಕೃಷ್ಣಾಷ್ಟೋತ್ತರಶತನಾಮಸ್ತೋತ್ರಸ್ಯ ಶ್ರೀಶೇಷ ಋಷಿಃ,

ಅನುಷ್ಟುಪ್-ಛನ್ದಃ, ಶ್ರೀಕೃಷ್ಣೋ ದೇವತಾ, ಶ್ರೀಕೃಷ್ಣಪ್ರೀತ್ಯರ್ಥೇ

ನವನೀತನವಾಹಾರೀ ಮುಚುಕುನ್ದಪ್ರಸಾದಕಃ ।

ಷೋಡಶಸ್ತ್ರೀಸಹಸ್ರೇಶಸ್ತ್ರಿಭಂಗೋ ಮಧುರಾಕೃತಿಃ ॥ 5 ॥

ಶುಕವಾಗಮೃತಾಬ್ಧೀನ್ದುರ್ಗೋವಿನ್ದೋ ಗೋವಿದಾಮ್ಪತಿಃ ।

ವತ್ಸಪಾಲನಸಂಚಾರೀ ಧೇನುಕಾಸುರಭಂಜನಃ ॥ 6 ॥

ತೃಣೀಕೃತತೃಣಾವರ್ತೋ ಯಮಲಾರ್ಜುನಭಂಜನಃ ।

ಉತ್ತಾಲತಾಲಭೇತ್ತಾ ಚ ತಮಾಲಶ್ಯಾಮಲಾಕೃತಿಃ ॥ 7 ॥

ಗೋಪೀಗೋಪೀಶ್ವರೋ ಯೋಗೀ ಸೂರ್ಯಕೋಟಿಸಮಪ್ರಭಃ ।

ಇಲಾಪತಿಃ ಪರಂಜ್ಯೋತಿರ್ಯಾದವೇನ್ದ್ರೋ ಯದೂದ್ವಹಃ ॥ 8 ॥

ವನಮಾಲೀ ಪೀತವಾಸಾಃ ಪಾರಿಜಾತಾಪಹಾರಕಃ ।

ಗೋವರ್ಧನಾಚಲೋದ್ಧರ್ತಾ ಗೋಪಾಲಃ ಸರ್ವಪಾಲಕಃ ॥ 9 ॥

ಅಜೋ ನಿರಂಜನಃ ಕಾಮಜನಕಃ ಕಂಜಲೋಚನಃ ।

ಮಧುಹಾ ಮಥುರಾನಾಥೋ ದ್ವಾರಕಾನಾಯಕೋ ಬಲೀ ॥ 10 ॥

ವೃನ್ದಾವನಾನ್ತಸಂಚಾರೀ ತುಲಸೀದಾಮಭೂಷಣಃ ।

ಸ್ಯಮನ್ತಕಮಣೇರ್ಹರ್ತಾ ನರನಾರಾಯಣಾತ್ಮಕಃ ॥ 11 ॥

ಕುಬ್ಜಾಕೃಷ್ಣಾಮ್ಬರಧರೋ ಮಾಯೀ ಪರಮಪೂರುಷಃ ।

ಮುಷ್ಟಿಕಾಸುರಚಾಣೂರಮಹಾಯುದ್ಧವಿಶಾರದಃ ॥ 12 ॥

ಸಂಸಾರವೈರೀ ಕಂಸಾರಿರ್ಮುರಾರಿರ್ನರಕಾನ್ತಕಃ ।

ಅನಾದಿರ್ಬ್ರಹ್ಮಚಾರೀ ಚ ಕೃಷ್ಣಾವ್ಯಸನಕರ್ಷಕಃ ॥ 13 ॥

ಶಿಶುಪಾಲಶಿರಚ್ಛೇತ್ತಾ ದುರ್ಯೋಧನಕುಲಾನ್ತಕೃತ ।

ವಿದುರಾಕ್ರೂರವರದೋ ವಿಶ್ವರೂಪಪ್ರದರ್ಶಕಃ ॥ 14 ॥

ಸತ್ಯವಾಕ್ ಸತ್ಯಸಂಕಲ್ಪಃ ಸತ್ಯಭಾಮಾರತೋ ಜಯೀ ।

ಸುಭದ್ರಾಪೂರ್ವಜೋ ವಿಷ್ಣುರ್ಭೀಷ್ಮಮುಕ್ತಿಪ್ರದಾಯಕಃ ॥ 15 ॥

ಜಗದ್ಗುರುರ್ಜಗನ್ನಾಥೋ ವೇಣುವಾದ್ಯವಿಶಾರದಃ । ವೇಣುನಾದವಿಶಾರದಃ

ವೃಷಭಾಸುರವಿಧ್ವಂಸೀ ಬಕಾರಿರ್ಬಾಣಬಾಹುಕೃತ್ ॥ 16 ॥ var ಬಾಣಾಸುರಬಲಾನ್ತಕೃತ್ ॥

ಯುಧಿಷ್ಠಿರಪ್ರತಿಷ್ಠಾತಾ ಬರ್ಹಿಬರ್ಹಾವತಂಸಕಃ ।

ಪಾರ್ಥಸಾರಥಿರವ್ಯಕ್ತೋ ಗೀತಾಮೃತಮಹೋದಧಿಃ ॥ 17 ॥

ಕಾಲೀಯಫಣಿಮಾಣಿಕ್ಯರಂಜಿತಶ್ರೀಪದಾಮ್ಬುಜಃ ।

ದಾಮೋದರೋ ಯಜ್ಞಭೋಕ್ತಾ ದಾನವೇನ್ದ್ರವಿನಾಶನಃ ॥ 18 ॥

ನಾರಾಯಣಃ ಪರಮ್ಬ್ರಹ್ಮ ಪನ್ನಗಾಶನವಾಹನಃ ।

ಜಲಕ್ರೀಡಾಸಮಾಸಕ್ತಗೋಪೀವಸ್ತ್ರಾಪಹಾರಕಃ ॥ 19 ॥

ಪುಣ್ಯಶ್ಲೋಕಸ್ತೀರ್ಥಕರೋ ವೇದವೇದ್ಯೋ ದಯಾನಿಧಿಃ ।

ಸರ್ವತೀರ್ಥಾತ್ಮಕಃ ಸರ್ವಗ್ರಹರೂಪೀ ಪರಾತ್ಪರಃ ॥ 20 ॥

ಇತ್ಯೇವಂ ಕೃಷ್ಣದೇವಸ್ಯ ನಾಮ್ನಾಮಷ್ಟೋತ್ತರಂ ಶತಮ್ ।

ಕೃಷ್ಣೇನ ಕೃಷ್ಣಭಕ್ತೇನ ಶ್ರುತ್ವಾ ಗೀತಾಮೃತಂ ಪುರಾ ॥ 21 ॥

ಸ್ತೋತ್ರಂ ಕೃಷ್ಣಪ್ರಿಯಕರಂ ಕೃತಂ ತಸ್ಮಾನ್ಮಯಾ ಪುರಾ ।

ಕೃಷ್ಣನಾಮಾಮೃತಂ ನಾಮ ಪರಮಾನನ್ದದಾಯಕಮ್ ॥ 22 ॥

ಅನುಪದ್ರವದುಃಖಘ್ನಂ ಪರಮಾಯುಷ್ಯವರ್ಧನಮ್

ದಾನಂ ಶ್ರುತಂ ತಪಸ್ತೀರ್ಥಂ ಯತ್ಕೃತಂ ತ್ವಿಹ ಜನ್ಮನಿ ॥ 23 ॥

ಪಠತಾಂ ಶೃಣ್ವತಾಂ ಚೈವ ಕೋಟಿಕೋಟಿಗುಣಂ ಭವೇತ್ ।

ಪುತ್ರಪ್ರದಮಪುತ್ರಾಣಾಮಗತೀನಾಂ ಗತಿಪ್ರದಮ್ ॥ 24 ॥

ಧನಾವಹಂ ದರಿದ್ರಾಣಾಂ ಜಯೇಚ್ಛೂನಾಂ ಜಯಾವಹಮ್ ।

ಶಿಶೂನಾಂ ಗೋಕುಲಾನಾಂ ಚ ಪುಷ್ಟಿದಂ ಪುಷ್ಟಿವರ್ಧನಮ್ ॥ 25 ॥

ವಾತಗ್ರಹಜ್ವರಾದೀನಾಂ ಶಮನಂ ಶಾನ್ತಿಮುಕ್ತಿದಮ್ ।

ಸಮಸ್ತಕಾಮದಂ ಸದ್ಯಃ ಕೋಟಿಜನ್ಮಾಘನಾಶನಮ್ ॥ 26 ॥

ಅನ್ತೇ ಕೃಷ್ಣಸ್ಮರಣದಂ ಭವತಾಪಭಯಾಪಹಮ್ ।

ಕೃಷ್ಣಾಯ ಯಾದವೇನ್ದ್ರಾಯ ಜ್ಞಾನಮುದ್ರಾಯ ಯೋಗಿನೇ ।

ನಾಥಾಯ ರುಕ್ಮಿಣೀಶಾಯ ನಮೋ ವೇದಾನ್ತವೇದಿನೇ ॥ 27 ॥

ಇಮಂ ಮನ್ತ್ರಂ ಮಹಾದೇವಿ ಜಪನ್ನೇವ ದಿವಾನಿಶಮ್ ।

ಸರ್ವಗ್ರಹಾನುಗ್ರಹಭಾಕ್ ಸರ್ವಪ್ರಿಯತಮೋ ಭವೇತ್ ॥ 28 ॥

ಪುತ್ರಪೌತ್ರೈಃ ಪರಿವೃತಃ ಸರ್ವಸಿದ್ಧಿಸಮೃದ್ಧಿಮಾನ್ ।

ನಿರ್ವಿಶ್ಯ ಭೋಗಾನನ್ತೇಽಪಿ ಕೃಷ್ಣಸಾಯುಜ್ಯಮಾಪ್ಯುನಾತ್ ॥ 29 ॥
