Saraswati is worshiped as the presiding deity of speech, intellect, wisdom, education, arts, and knowledge. These goddesses are mostly depicted as Hamsavahini, Veenapani, and Book Mala Dharini. In the depictions of Saraswati, the importance of white objects is high. Bammera Potana in his praise of Saraswati enumerates a long list of white objects as "Sharada niradendu ghanasara patira marala mallika hara tushara phena rajatachala kasaphaneesa kunda mandara sudha pyodhi sita tamara sarasa vahini shubhakarata noppu".
